Chris is a native Californian who has made
his home in Raleigh, North Carolina since June of 1974. After
graduating from the University of California, Boalt Hall School
of Law, in 1972 he served for a year and a half as a VISTA
volunteer in Boise, Idaho Legal Services Office and thereafter
worked as an Assistant Attorney General with the Idaho Attorney
General's Office in its Tax Division. In 1974 he moved to
North Carolina to take a position with the National Association
of Attorneys General, headquartered in Raleigh, as its Consumer
Protection Coordinator. After eighteen months, he left NAAG
to establish a private practice of law.
In 1981 Chris and Bob Monroe founded a
firm with two other attorneys, C. Edward Alexander and Jane
S. Atkins which became the precursor to Monroe, Wyne &
Wallace, P.A. Chris's primary areas of practice from the outset
were residential and commercial real estate. In addition he
advises homeowners' associations and prepares wills and advance
care directives for clients who do not have estate tax planning
concerns. In 1990 Chris was certified as a specialist in Real
Property Law-Residential, Business, Commercial and Industrial
Transactions by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal
Specialization.
In 1991 Chris married the former Sarah
Mitchell Vann of Durham, North Carolina and as a result of
their union he is the proud parent of two step-daughters,
Jennie Vann Taylor and Sally Vann Taylor. The balance of the
family consists of a 137 pound "pound puppy" named
Willie, and three cats, Lucifer, Spook and Oswald. Chris was
recognized in 1985 as Wake County Volunteer of the Year by
the East Central Community Legal Services office for providing
legal services to the poor. He is a member of the North Carolina
State Bar Association, Real Property Section, and an active
participant with Sarah as a volunteer with the Epilepsy Foundation
of North Carolina.
