Executor of the Estate
The Executor of your estate is the person who will administer your estate according to the provisions of your Will and the legal requirements of the state where your estate is located. In North Carolina, the Executor must comply with the procedural requirements set forth in the North Carolina General Statutes. The Clerk of Court of the county where your estate is administered will supervise the administration of your estate and assist your Executor with the probate process. The Clerk of Court is not permitted to provide legal advice, however. If a legal issue arises during the administration of your estate, your Executor may be advised to consult with an attorney for specific legal representation.

When designating an Executor in your Will, you should choose someone who you trust to be fair and honest with the handling of your assets, and who is most likely to follow your instructions as set forth in your Will.
